(Indianapolis) The Indiana Invaders’ Mason Cathey will compete this evening in the USA 1 Mile Road Championships.  The second edition of this new USATF road championship is hosted through 2012 by the Medtronic TC 1 Mile.

Mason Cathey, finished in a break through 7^th place in the 2009 inaugural running of this USA National Championship and coming off her 9^th place 1500 meter result in late February at her first USA Indoor National Championship, she is prepared to gain additional national experience as a middle distance competitor.  Cathey recently posted a USA Outdoor National Championship qualifying mark at the Sea Ray Relays in her 3000 meter steeplechase season debut.

An outstanding field of sixteen athletes will headline the women’s championship race. Watch it Live - The USA 1 Mile Road Championships will be streamed live in cooperation with RunnerSpace.com at www.USARunningCircuit.com. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 7:53 p.m. C.S.T and the men will start at 8:03 p.m.

Coach Greg Harger said, "Mason will face a stiff challenge in a field of sixteen athletes with most holding faster life time best marks than her personal bests while we have been working through some tough over-training weeks". Harger added, "Having raced here last year gives her some familiarity advantages and the opportunity to race at this distance against some of the best in the country is something she has earned as we continue to focus on improving her national class speed for her best event, the steeplechase. ".
