(Indianapolis, IN) The Indiana Invaders kicked off their opening appearances in the American Milers Club High Performance Series with notable performances by Drake Sterling and Juan Carrillo the evening of June 6th. The Wednesday night competition had the pair of Invaders athletes competing in the featured "A" Section of the 800 meter races

Wednesday evening Sterling, in posting a life-time best of 1:48.70, edged teammate Juan Carrillo as he posted the third fastest time of his career (1:49.18) and his fastest time since 2009.  Sterling and Carrillo finished 8th and 9th in the international field.  Sterling's mark was 0.40 seconds off of the US Olympic Trials "B" Level Qualifying Standard and moves him to #4 on the Invaders All-time List.

The Wednesday evening race delivered an exciting race with a mere 1.6 seconds separating second thru ninth place finishers with the top five performances exceeding US Olympic Trials Qualifying Standards.  A unique race perspective video on the track running with the athletes is provided by ActiveIndy View.

The Indiana Invaders will return to competition on Saturday night June 9th in the second high powered day of competition offered by the American Milers Club High Performance Series.

Coach Greg Harger said, "It was good to see both Sterling and Carrillo take advantage of their current fitness and post notable marks in this first of four outstanding opportunities here in our home town with the AMC Series". Harger added, "The talent level goes up each of the next two days of competition as does the racing pressure over the final three days of the series.  This is the time of the year that everyone prepares for and it is an exciting opportunity for all athletes involved in this race series which closes out some of the best high performance opportunities immediately before the US Olympic Trials".

The Indiana Invaders, a not-for-profit organization competing at USA National Championships since 1999, provide a resident-based, athlete-centered support system based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
