INVADERS HON WINS AT RALEIGH RELAYS; NEHUS PR's AT STANFORD

March 27, 2005
(INDIANAPOLIS) Indiana Invaders' Brandon Hon had a strong season opener on the east coast with a win in the 110 hurdles and a runner-up finish in the 400 hurdles at the 2005 Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University. Simultaneously on the west coast, Erin Nehus dropped 20 seconds in her PR over 5,000 meters in the Stanford Invitational.

Hon opened the season with a USATF "A" Standard qualifying performance in the qualifying round of 110 hurdles with a time of 13.80. His winning time in the finals was 13.92. Hon also took second in the 400 hurdles (51.10).

Hon, a 2004 US Olympic Trials qualifier, is now a four-time USATF National Championship qualifier since completing his collegiate career in 2002 for the University of Cincinnati.

Posting a notable performance on the opposite side of the country was teammate Erin Nehus. Nehus was third in section #2 of the 5,000 at the Stanford Invitational. Nehus recorded a time of 16:28.31 which was the 11th fastest time of the day and a 20 second personal improvement at the distance over her 2004 PR.

Team Director Greg Harger said, "Hon had a career best season opener this weekend at both the 110's and 400 hurdles. His challenging decision to not compete at the Indoor Championships due to a minor injury was obviously the correct decision. Hon, not surprisingly, can run a much cleaner 400 hurdle race and has plenty of room for refinement over the 110's over the coming weeks" Harger added, "Nehus had a strong outing and the time verifies her recent 8K time of 27 flat on the roads. Her training has yet to include any real speed work so the prospects of her re-writing personal bests from 1500 meters to the 10,000 are very real for this season which is a learning season with regard to her longer-term racing future."

INDIANA INVADERS ADD NINE TIME ALL-AMERICAN ERIN NEHUS

March 13, 2005
(INDIANAPOLIS) The Indiana Invaders have added nine time NAIA All-American Erin Nehus, of Cedarville University, to the team's roster. Nehus has career bests of 4:29 in the 1500 and 16:48 in the 5,000.

Nehus holds five Cedarville University school records from the 1,000 to the 10,000 and is an eight time conference champion. Nehus is also a eight time Ohio High School Championship Qualifier (four times in cross country and four times in track).

Team Director Greg Harger said, "Nehus is just beginning to realize her potential." Harger added, "Nehus competing in February on the roads in Indianapolis turned in a notable 27:00 for 5 miles providing something of a clue regarding her prospects for national caliber marks in the 2005 season."

INDIANA INVADERS ADD FORMER USA NATIONAL JUNIOR TEAM MEMBER CALEB BAILEY

March 3, 2005
(INDIANAPOLIS) The Indiana Invaders have added 1500 meter USA National Junior Team member Caleb Bailey to the team's roster. Bailey is a graduate of Western Carolina University and Brookwood High School, Georgia and has career bests of 1:48.49 in the 800 and 30:15 at 10K in cross country.

Bailey was a member of the 2000 US National Junior Team in the 1500 meters and is a two-time NCAA Championship qualifier in 2003 (800 and cross country). Bailey set school records at Western Carolina University in the 800 and for 10,000 meters in cross country. Bailey was also the 2003 Western Carolina University Male Athlete of the Year and is a seven time conference champion (800, Mile, and Relays).

In 2004, Bailey met the US Olympic Trials "B" qualifying standard in the 800 and competed at the 2003 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in the 800.

Bailey, a graduate of Brookwood High School (Ga.), was fourth in the 5A Georgia State Championship 1600, seventh in the 800, and eighth in the 4x400 relay.

Team Director Greg Harger said, "Bailey has a considerable range of race experience, from the 800 to 10K in Cross Country, and he has just begun to explore the possibilities and opportunities available to him as a post-collegian." Harger added, "Bailey is a valuable addition to our middle distance group that is totally focused on the Big Picture leading to 2008."

Team Director Greg Harger said, "It was a bit of a crazy weekend what with our having difficulties getting everyone to the meet and then even getting home after the meet. Regardless, it was a constructive and positive weekend for the most part as we evaluate the athletes competing this weekend in Boston." Harger added, "We're looking forward to having a much larger impact and presence during the outdoor season and at the USA Outdoor Championships."
