Invaders Head South To Billy Hayes InvitationalPublished by
April 30, 2010 (Indianapolis) The Indiana Invaders travel the short trip down Highway 37 to Indiana University for their annual appearance at the Billy Hayes Invitational hosted by the Indiana University Track & Field Teams. This year's Billy Hayes Invitational will be the first meet on a newly refurbished track. The Indiana Invaders will compete in featured races Friday evening May 7th. Leading the Indiana Invaders appearance will be USA National Indoor 800 meter qualifier and last weekend's Jesse Owens 800 meter Champion, James "Jimmy" O'Brien in his high level 1500 meter race. Steve Ludwig will contest his season's first 800 meter race after a personal best outing at 1500 meters last weekend in the Jesse Owens Classic. Joining the featured section of the 800 meter race will be teammate Adrian Myers with his season opener at the distance. Nathanael “Nate” Browning and Ricardo “Ricky” Bell will get things rolling for the team as they are set to compete at 400 meters as both continue their respective comeback seasons. Coach Greg Harger said, "A great meet for our group as we basically wrap up our early season race evaluations in a great facility against plenty of national class competition" Harger added, "With just another 5 weeks of great training left before racing becomes focused on Nationals we are assured of good motivational and educational outcomes here this weekend as we go up against outstanding collegiate athletes peaked for their championship season which kicks off for most next weekend in conference championships". The Indiana Invaders, a not-for-profit organization competing at USA National Championships since 1999, provide a resident-based, athlete-centered support system based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
