Indiana Invaders' James O'Brien Advances to USATF 800m Finals

(Albuquerque, NM) The Indiana Invaders' James O'Brien opened his competition weekend successfully today at the USA Indoor National Track & Field Championships. The Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with the New Mexico Sports Authority, the University of New Mexico, the City of Albuquerque and USATF New Mexico, are the official hosts for the championships, which were held in Albuquerque in 2010 and will return in 2012.

James "Jimmy" O'Brien in his second season on the Indiana Invaders roster makes his third USA National Championship appearance after having competed in the USA Indoor & Outdoor National Championships at 800 meters in 2010.  O'Brien advanced to his first USA National Championship Final. Jimmy made the Sunday Finals of the 800 Meter Run with a third place finish (race video) in his section (results) on Saturday.

Coach Greg Harger said, "Jimmy's 2010 initial season crash course as a post-collegian is starting to pay dividends." Harger added, "Jimmy will face a strong test and a golden opportunity in the 800 meter Finals Sunday afternoon in the spotlight of LIVE ESPN television coverage.

The Indiana Invaders, a not-for-profit organization competing at USA National Championships since 1999, provide a resident-based, athlete-centered support system based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
