Indiana Invaders' James O'Brien and Juan Carrillo Headed to Blue Shoes Elite MilePublished by
April 8, 2011 (Indianapolis) The Indiana Invaders' James O'Brien and Juan Carrillo will compete Saturday April 9th in the Invitational Blue Shoes Elite Mile held as the featured event of the Furman Invitational in Greenville, SC. The James O'Brien and Juan Carrillo outing in Greenville will kick off the outdoor season for the Indiana Invaders roster. O'Brien recently finished 4th in the 800 meter run with his first finals appearance at the USA Indoor National Track & Field Championships. Carrillo having made a break-through in the 1500 late last season with a couple 3:45 outings will look to race the field with teammate O'Brien as the dangerous underdogs with their 800 meter speed potential. Coach Greg Harger said, "It is very early but a good solid field of experienced runners and both Jimmy and Juan have been training well for this stage of the season". Harger added, "The number one focus for both guys here is applying a competitive effort against the field in an event where they lack a depth of experience". The Indiana Invaders, a not-for-profit organization competing at USA National Championships since 1999, provide a resident-based, athlete-centered support system based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
